An Enemy of the People

The Company of Strangers Theater presentsc “An Enemy of the People,” by Henrik Ibsen. Dr. Stockman has discovered that the public baths recently built are infected with a deadly disease. He pleads with his brother, the mayor, for the town to fix or eliminate the baths, but the mayor refuses for fear of financial upheaval. The lives of the townspeople are at stake, yet the town labels Dr. Stockman an “enemy of the people” for daring to take a stand against such a well-meant cause. With his family’s reputation at stake, Dr. Stockman must decide just how far he will go to stand up for the truth. A timely and forgotten comedic drama, An Enemy of the People is brought to you with a unique analysis on idealism and reality as The Company Of Strangers’ first Milwaukee-based production, having relocated from the East Coast.
