Ciclovia MKE

Ciclovía MKE is part of a global network of active-transportation efforts called Ciclovía, Open Streets, Viva Calle, Streets Alive and many other names. These events, which range from weekly to annually, encourage physical activity and promote broadening transportation choices.

This event will create a car-free public space where families and friends can exercise and play, and neighborhood businesses can engage the community. The focus will be on encouraging active living, involving local businesses, and growing neighborhood pride. Many people are afraid to drive through Milwaukee’s central city neighborhoods, let alone convene there for recreation - “Open Streets” events offer a unique opportunity to bring diverse communities together and create safe, fun places for residents to ride their bikes, run, walk and socialize. Open Streets events in other communities around the country and world have proven to boost the economies of the local businesses.
