Contemporary Explorations in Print, THE Fine Art Gallery, Marshall Building

 

THE Fine art Gallery will be collaborating with Print MKE, organized by the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (hosts for the SGC International Conference). THE Fine Art Gallery is featuring the work of printmaker, Roger Steele, 1945 - 2012. Steele was a significant contributor to the University of South Carolina Beaufort’s Art Department and is a noted printmaker. His work has been selected for collections of major museums including the Library of Congress and the Corcoran. "The Valentines" prints began in 1984 with a print for his wife and are lauded for his sentiment, tongue-in-cheek portraits with a heart, and overall skill in printmaking over the years. This rare retrospective was made available for this tribute by Lee and Diane Logan. Also, Michael Broderick, printmaker and member of THE Fine Art Gallery, is showing his striking reactive, gestural and eventually figurative mono-prints. Broderick, an artist and retired Milwaukee Public Schools art teacher, has exhibited widely in Southeastern Wisconsin in solo and group shows and is represented in many institutional, private, and corporate collections.

The exhibition will also include works by Dagmara Costello, Virgi Driscoll, JJ Joyce, Nancy Lamers, Marie Mellott, David Powell, D. Wesenberg Rzezotarski, and Jean D. Sobon.

The exciting print exhibition will run at THE Fine Art Gallery from Friday, March 22 - April 13, 2013. THE Fine Art Gallery is located in The Marshall Building, 207 East Buffalo Street, Suite 210, Milwaukee, WI 53202-6774.
