    Milwaukee Public Museum Summer Camp: Archaeology Expedition: Egypt

    Who wouldn't like to spend a few days exploring ancient Egypt? Use archaeological methods to examine and compare artifacts from ancient Egypt at the Milwaukee Public Museum, and discover how these methods help archaeologists learn more about this fascinating culture. We will discuss the similarities and differences between artifacts and cultures that become evident from studying them. Working in teams, students will conduct their own field...

    Who wouldn't like to spend a few days exploring ancient Egypt? Use archaeological methods to examine and compare artifacts from ancient Egypt at the Milwaukee Public Museum, and discover how these methods help archaeologists learn more about this fascinating culture. We will discuss the similarities and differences between artifacts and cultures that become evident from studying them. Working in teams, students will conduct their own field surveys of artifacts, delivering oral reports of their conclusions. We'll also unwrap the secrets of mummification. Find out why mummification was so important in ancient Egypt and what mummies tell us today about Egyptians of the past. Become an attendant as you help adorn and wrap a model mummy, and get up close and personal with Djed-Hor, one of the museum's real ancient Egyptian mummies. Camp is from 9:30am-3:30pm for kids ages 6-8. If you need to drop your child off early or pick them up late, before care and after care is available.     $90 members, $115 non-members. Registration deadline is July 3rd.

    Parking:

    There are metered spaces available on most downtown streets. Meters are free (limit 2 hours) on weekends.

    There are several municipal lots nearby. MacArthur Square parking structure is adjacent to the Museum Center and is accessible via James Lovell Street. The parking structure includes an entrance to the Museum on the ground level, eliminating the need to walk outside. Members receive discounted rates.
