You'll typically find that term on a wine label when the grape varieties aren't listed, most often when the wine is blended from several components, like a Bordeaux-style wine or a modern kitchen-sink blend.

Varietal: Shiraz (42%) Malbec (38%) Merlot (20%)

winemaker's notes:
Black Sheep is an unusual blend of varieties to produce an easy drinking wine of medium structure with a medley of fruit characters. The Shiraz gives ripe blackberry and raspberry flavors, the Malbec contributes strength and cherry characters, and the Merlot with its violet silkiness is used to soften the wine. The 2006 vintage was blended using 42% Shiraz, 38% Malbec and 20% Merlot, but these percentages may vary from year to year depending on the individual strength of grape flavor each vintage.

Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc
2004, Frankland River, Western Australia

Notes:
Vintage: Cool summer temperatures and dry conditions led to a very good vintage.
Colour: Deep vibrant black red.
Bouquet: Lovely aromas of red berries, plum and spicy oak.
Palate: Deep, dark and highly structured with a very long finish of redcurrant, dark berries, cedar and spice.
