    The Mark of Zorro
    1940 / 93min

Like Douglas Fairbanks twenty years earlier, Power makes his “swashbuckler” debut in this famous remake of the ever popular story. Power is the son of a Spanish aristocrat in 1800’s California. Power is at his best alternating between a foppish dandy and a dashing masked avenger known as Zorro (The Fox). His fantastic duel with Rathbone is one of the best, if not the best ever. Lavish costumes and sets are highlighted once again by an Alfred Newman Academy Award nominated score.

The Movie Time film series is shown every other Wednesday. These films are presented by leading Milwaukee film historian, Dale Kuntz. Special choices from his collection of classic films from the 30s and 40s are shown on 16mm, reel-to-reel film. Most of his films are not available on DVD, so the audience has a rare opportunity to see these films in their original glory. Prior to each screening, Dale facinates the audience with his vast knowledge of film history and gives the inside scoop on each movie, including bizarre details about the stars and clues to help the auidence spot little oddities that ended up in the film instead of on the cutting room floor.
