Carthage Music Theatre Workshop Presents: Godspell

Carthage College will present a weekend of Godspell under direction of Magdalene Spanuello and accompanied by Melissa Cardamone, with shows at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 27-28 and 3 p.m. Oct. 29.

The show will take place in the Visual and Performing Arts Lab in the H.F. Johnson Center for the Arts on the Carthage campus, 2001 Alford Park Drive.

Godspell, written by Tony-nominated composer Stephen Schwartz, covers the teachings of Jesus Christ and his eventual death as told mainly through the Gospel of Matthew. The company invites audiences to join them in their journey toward compassion, utilizing a score of jubilant music that maintains the feeling of love even throughout its darker moments. Under Jesus’ guidance, the once rag-tag and unorganized ensemble learns to work together and love one another to create something that will last for eternity.
