Concord Chamber Orchestra - Chamber Music Sampler

 

Members of the Concord Chamber Orchestra will be performing in their 2nd Chamber Music Sampler Concert on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. The concert will be held at Nicolet High School in their Community Room. This concert contains a variety of music ranging from the well-known Borodin String Quartet #2 in D and the Dvorak Serenade for Strings op. 22, arranged for wind ensemble; to the less well-known music of J.S. Bach’s Sixth Brandenburg Concerto for two violas and the seldom heard Duet by Franz Neubaur for violin and viola.

Why Attend a Chamber Music Concert?

Musical intimacy. Chamber music is generally written for friends and acquaintances of the composer. Performed in rooms of private houses and on small stages, chamber music brings the composer, performer(s) and audience together. A piece of chamber music allows the composer to freely and honestly express themselves musically. They can experiment with form and harmony; they can combine instruments in new ways to create unexpected sounds. The musician is given the chance to display his or her virtuosity, both technically and musically. The performer is given the task of bringing the composer’s thoughts and feeling to life. Audience members get to hear something new and different, to be brought into the creative process through the performer and by the composer. Chamber music provides an intimate way to make the power of music accessible to the audience, performer and composer.
