"You no longer love me," laments Buttercup to Buttons. And so begins a tale of love at the circus—a 20th-century version of Mozart's hilarious opera, Bastien and Bastienne. When Buttons the clown is distracted by a fancy trapeze artist, fellow clown Buttercup pines for his lost affection. How can they ever be together again? Only the magician knows the answer.
