DanceCircus
Four 40 years, DanceCircus has brought together artists and community to express our stories, ideas and concerns in dance-theatre performances. WATER MEASURES Is a three-year DanceCircus program blending fresh water environmental issues with dance education and performance.
The DanceCircus mission is to inspire, educate and entertain through original and collaborative works in dance, music, theatre, visual and literary arts;
and,
to create accessible topical programs reflecting the urban, social and natural worlds through dance and the performing arts.
DanceCircus creates original dance programs blending theatre, visual art, music and stories. WATER MEASURES, second of a three year project dancing the art and science of the Great Lakes/Lake Michigan, searches for the resources that inspire hearts and challenge minds to resolve our common water concerns. Support for WATER MEASURES includes individuals and the Wisconsin Arts Board, The Brookby Foundation, Milwaukee County CAMPAC and The Peter & Lorraine Salamun Family Trust.
DanceCircus teaching-artists engage children, youth and adults in the physical and mental challenges of creative problem solving and the discipline of performance. Movement students learn to move and express feelings and work together to perform their ideas, hopes and dreams.
Company-community performances bring together dancers, actors, students, environmentalists, musicians, seniors, writers, differently-abled, artists, educators, people from diverse economic and religious backgrounds, and people of all ages as part of a creative and collaborative process.
