FREESPACE'S April showcase, which took place on Wednesday, April 27th, 2016, was a special celebration where we welcomed our first "seasoned artist" rock band to the stage, Milwaukee's very own, Gauss. This here footage encapsulates one of the most magical and memorable FREESPACE moments to date. When Gauss concluded the performance of their second song, vocalist/guitarist Eddie Chapman told the crowd that "the last song we are going to play is an instrumental. I'm going to take a step back from the mic. If anybody wants it, well, here it is!" Milwaukee's youth embraced this opportunity with reckless abandon before Gauss had the opportunity to play one full bar of their composition. Fellow April showcase performers CLEO and 40oz. DAI also took their turn freestyling over Gauss' "Stumbling Block II." The response was exhilarating just was much as it was mesmerizing. We -- every single last person in attendance -- was in that moment reminded of the power of love, music, and community. Why don't you see for yourself?
