Rooted MKE

Rooted MKE is a BIPOC Children’s bookstore and literacy center offering handpicked, titles either written or illustrated by people of color, or depicting protagonists of color. We thrive to showcase a wide range of characters who are multifaceted and offer opportunities for youth to engage meaningfully with books to further literacy comprehension skills and vocabulary acquisition skills.

Our arts studio allows youth to share space with local, resident artists to either be introduced to a new skill, or master a skill of high-interest in an embracing atmosphere. We seek to create an environment where children are encouraged to create whatever they imagine.

Our academic support services are designed to provide intensive academic enrichment and support. Our academic coaches work alongside students to meet shared goals and build academic skills and confidence.
